Personnel Administration Subcommittee

1.    Recommendation of 2% increase for entry level librarian salary

2.    Presented program at NJLA spring conference,  "It's Complicated: Finding the Sweet Spot Between Monster and Doormat," which was attended by 26 people.

3.    Unsuccessfully tried to find pro bono legal review of updated version of Model Personnel Manual

4.    Colaborating with Administration Section to present a bi-annual "Library Administration and Management Forum", with the first date to be scheduled for sometime in 2018.

Minutes of last meeting were approved.  
Dale passed out list of conference programs we are running or co-sponsoring.  Our service dog program is on Wednesday at 9 am.  Dale will have ADA laws ready.  Resume speed dating will be Monday at 5 pm.  Discussing timing and traffic.  Dale will make name tags with station numbers – all reviewers please be there by 4:30 PM.  Dale will promote in LibraryLinkNJ forum and Adele in FB.

Core Competencies - Lina

It wasn't brought up to the Professional Development Committee yet. We don't want to step on someone's toes so it is not a good idea to do the Poster session after all. Another reason to not do a poster session is that the table has to be staffed for an extensive time. A lot of labor for not such a great outcome.

Michael had a discussion with another director about basic training that all the libraries need.

Programs for the NJLA Conference

Dale

  • Service Animals in the Library. She got  Les Cameron to do the program. He may need money for a car service. He has a seeing eye dog and the dog is amazing. There is an organization in NJ that trains dogs as service animals for veterans called Semper Fido.  Dale is waiting for them to call her back.

Meetings will be the third Friday of the month. The next meeting will be October 17 @ 10:00 a.m. at the Springfield Public Library.

Michael- NJLA is in the middle of the strategic planning process, 3 year plan from the time of adoption. Ideas must be tested by the broader membership & get input from them before implementation.

Waiting for the consultants to provide the results. A deadline has not been set.
