Task Forces
A task force may be established by the Executive Board or any committee or subcommittee of the Association, with the approval of the president. A task force will be appointed as the need arises to carry out a specific task, at the completion of which it automatically ceases to exist.
Equity and Mentorship Task Force (2023-2024)
Chair: Ashley Mitchell
Functions:
- Oversee and coordinate services and support for the Equity Scholarship recipients including
- Accessing NJLA’s lifelong learning network, professional development opportunities, and community-building efforts
- Identifying opportunities to participate in the NJLA Conference Poster Session and NJLA Internship program
- Mentorship with New Jersey Librarians in coordination with LLNJ Professional development, training, and support from partners in the library ecosystem, particularly in relation to topics of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Make recommendations for the establishment of a standing NJLA Equity & Justice Mentorship Sub-committee of Member Services
Permanent Construction Task Force (2023-2024)
Chair(s): David Hanson and Jeanne Marie Ryan
Functions:
- Establish ongoing funding to enable public libraries to meet unfunded community mandates
- Establish debt facilitation to assist public libraries with large building projects
Strategic Planning Task Force (2023-2024)
Chair: Carina Gonzalez
Functions:
- Review and evaluate the existing strategic plan
- Create a process for including the perspectives and voices of NJLA members in the creation of an updated multi-year strategic plan
- Craft a document that plans for the future of NJLA in coordination with the NJLA Executive Board Planning Subcommittee to present to the Executive Board for approval
Mini-Grants Task Force (2023-2024)
Chair: Will Porter
Functions:
- Solicit, review, and award applications for Mini-Grants as outlined in the Board approved proposal.
- Assess, review, and update the Mini-Grant guidelines and application on an ongoing basis to better align with our Core Values and Strategic Plan.
