Reference & Adult Services Section

The primary activities of the Reference & Adult Services Section are the organization of an annual continuing education program for the Reference & Adult Services librarians and library workers of New Jersey and sponsoring informational sessions at the annual NJLA conference. At other times throughout the year, members meet around the State at various libraries, or via Zoom, to network, brainstorm, and share ideas regarding reference-related and adult services issues.

Eleni Glykis, Director of Red Bank (NJ) Public Library, offered librarians a wealth of programming and outreach ideas designed to deliver much needed community and informational resources to those pregnant or transitioning as new parents, during her presentation at the NJLA’s Adult Services Forum, held Oct. 22, 2019, at the Holmdel Library and Learning Center.

The NJLA Adult Services Forum (October 22, 2019) opened with the “Morning Hot Topic: Facial Recognition, Technology, and Privacy Issues,” led with a discussion moderated by T.J. Lamanna (Emerging Technologies Librarian at Cherry Hill [NJ] Public Library), who advocates for the protection concerns of library users and librarians in the use of advancing technologies.
